Early June, the Board of the RSSB has confirmed its wish to organize the annual meeting of October 2021 in a face-to-face setting. We are therefore really happy to announce that the 28th annual meeting of the RSSB will take place in Liège on October 21 and 22, 2021!
Rest assured that we, together with our partners (Palais des Congrès and Hotel Van Der Valk), will do all we can to ensure a COVID-19-safe scientific meeting.
Here are some information about the options offered to you for attending the meeting.
The full-conference package includes the accommodation(*), as well as the full catering.
The one-day options do not contain the accommodation in the hotel, nor the conference dinner.
(*) Note in particular that, contrary to the previous years and due to the COVID-19 situation, the attending PhD candidates will not be asked to share a hotel room. The Royal Statistical Society of Belgium will provide special sponsoring in order to help the organizing team keep the registration fee for the PhD candidates reasonable despite this necessary decision.
The preliminary program is already available. While Thursday and Friday provide a classic (but appealing) scientific program, a new and exciting activity is scheduled on Friday afternoon. Indeed, in collaboration with our partners (Ethias, Statistics Belgiumn and Aardex) a mini hackathon will be organized. We very much hope that all conference participants (especially all PhD candidates, but also their supervisors and everyone else!) will join us for that friendly competition.
Nevertheless, for those of you who wish to attend the mini-hackathon in a more passive way, a visit to a nearby museum in Liège will be organized during the brainstorming part of the mini hackathon. Afterwards, erveryone joins up again for the team presentations and the concluding award ceremony.
